Does anybody know what wheels and tyre size would be classed as original for our Costello,s ?

It seems most have gone for the newer alloy wheels like MGOC sport or similar which personally I think enhance the appearance of the cars.

My...  damn.. (My Daughter's )  Costello  (Under Helen Massey in the Roasdster section
('ELVIS'.... PHL 770 M...I keep forgetting I gave it to her as a wedding present !!! )....has had Wolfrace alloys since new in 1974. You can still get a good set of these on E.Bay as they were fitted to the Reliant Scimitar G.T.E. In fact there is a set for sale as I speak..you can also look under classic wolfrace.

My alloy wheel size is 6.00 x 14  and they are 114.3 P.C.D. 105 OUT.
I have 185 / 70 R.14 tyres fitted , but you could easily fit larger tyres.

They are easy to maintain, and are a very strong wheel and look superb as a period wheel.

Paula, As Ken says, the Scimitar SE5 also used a variation on the Dunlop wheel used on Costellos. It apparently has a similar offset and the same PCD, but is a 5.5J rather than a 5J. 175/70HR 14 was the recommended tyre size, but these days 185/70HR 14s are the better bet. Lawrence.

After much searching on ebay I decided that 2nd hand wheels are a big gamble as you don't really know what you are getting and the history of them. I have found before its when you get new tyres fitted the problems start.

I took lawrence's advice and bought 4 x alloy wheels, anthracite with polished rims with 185/70HR/14's fitted from The MGBHive in Wisbech, Cambs. They provided an Excellent service and I'm very happy with them

Congrats on the wheels. They look very much like the 15" Minator's I have under my car, although mine are default alloys.
