Just found this site whilst surfing away some free hours got to know Ken quite well at the time he was selling the Farnborough business . Nearly bought it but Dave Vale beat me to it.Met him a couple of times after this at his home in Sidcup i was shown the magic 5 speed box but he was into Maseratis at the time. He was also building a V8 B for his lovely daughter. Is he still alive ???.

Hello. Yes Ken is very much alive, still based in Kent not far from the old workshops. Dave Vale still runs his V8 Conversions business and even drives an original "Costello" car. Ken has his own repro MkII Costello GT, though I dont know if Julia is driving it at the moment. Drop me a line and I can tell you more: lolwood@yahoo.co.uk Lawrence Wood.

Thanks very much for your reply great news that Ken is still about. Please give regards from Robin at Norbury. I was in the MG salvage business then which is how I met Ken and Dave I actually owned the ultimate  V8 MG which was an MGC with a rover in it. You would have to drive one to appreciate just how the much lower weight transformed the handling a magic car and I've had them all. I also drove John Chathams MGC roadster V8 with Sebring bodywork straight cut overdrive gearbox Weber carb etc.again magic.I also had an MGB GT racer with an American block and steel crank (Oldsmobile I think) from which the rover engine was derived. It had an Aston Martin 5 speed gearbox until it became competitive (this was lying around the yard!!!!!!) when the MG car club decided it was illegal then 4 speed and overdrive. It took the Benn trophy at the Brighton speed trials and was fairly successful at circuit racing for just one season. I was a bit involved with the exhaust specialist at Wallington (Mike The Pipe) in the building of his MGC V8 and Alan Smiths (MGCC) MGB GT V8 racer. Sadly all of these cars seem to have melted away. One of my oldest friends is Vic Young the MG car club "C" expert who lives nearby. Again thanks for the reply I have enjoyed remembering those times.
